Exercise - A4 Border

Drawing an A4 Landscape Border 1:1
Every drawing you print out needs to be presented well and should contain relevant information about the drawing, who drew it,
the date, scale, etc.
This drawing sheet is produced for an A4 printer at a scale of 1 to 1. To produce drawing sheets for use with other scales
rewuires only a very simple operation to this standard sheet.

Setup Environment
- Select [File, New]
- Select START FROM SCRATCH
- Choose Metric
- Select [File, Save As] to give the file a name and save it in the right place
Draw Outline of Border
- Select [Draw, Rectangle]
- Click left mouse button to fix lower left corner on the screen
- Enter @ 280, 190 : to position the diagonally opposite corner
Note: 280x190mm is a physical size that can be printed by all reasonable A4 printers! So there should be no troubles when printing to scale.
Draw Title Block

Draw title block outline
- Select [Draw, Rectangle]
- Snap to Endpoint:
- Move cursor to bottom right corner of border, when highlight box appears click left mouse button and enter relative distance of @ -70, 30
- Press Right Mouse Button or Enter to stop drawing
Zoom into Title Block Outline
- Select [View, Zoom, Window]
- Click one corner to the top left of Title Block Outline
- Click other corner to the bottom right of Title Block Outline
Draw Title Block layout
- Select [Draw, Line]
- Snap From: Snap to Endpoint:
- Move cursor to top right corner of title outline, when highlight box appears click left mouse button and enter relative distance of @ 0, -7
- Snap to Perpendicular:
- Move cursor to left vertical line of title outline, when highlight symbol appears click left mouse button
- Click right button to finish
Draw Offsets to draw the other horizontal lines
- Select [Modify, Offset]
- Enter a distance of 7 and press enter
- Click the mouse button on the line you want to draw an offset from
- Click the mouse button on the side of the line you want the offset to be drawn
- Repeat 3 and 4 until you have 3 lines drawn
Draw Vertical for Logo Area
- Select [Draw, Line]
- Snap From: Snap to Endpoint:
- Move cursor to top right corner of title outline, when highlight box appears click left mouse button and enter relative distance of @ -20, 0
- Snap to Perpendicular:
- Move cursor to third line down, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Click right button to finish
Trim ends of lines
- Select [Modify, Trim]
- Click on each line to be used in the trimming operation
- Click right button when all have been selected
- Click on the parts of the lines you want to remove
Draw centre vertical line
- Select [Draw, Line]
- Snap to centre
- Move cursor to horizontal line below top of title border, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Snap to Perpendicular:
- Move cursor to third line down, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Click right button to finish
Draw revision area vertical lines
- Select [Draw, Line]
- Move cursor to top left corner of border, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Double click ORTHO on bottom status line
- Move line up from top of title block until it is approximately 20 or 30mm high and click left button
- Click right button to finish
- Select [Modify, Offset]
- Enter a distance of 5 and press enter
- Click the mouse button on the line you want to draw an offset from
- Click the mouse button on the side of the line you want the offset to be drawn
- Select [Modify, Offset] or Click the RIGHT mouse button TWICE to repeat the last command! t
- Enter a distance of 7 and press enter
- Draw 2 parallel lines
Lukis Garis Merlintang (Draw horizontal line)!
- Select [Draw, Line]
- Snap From: Snap to Endpoint
- Move cursor to top left corner of title block, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Enter @0,4
- Snap to Perpendicular:
- Move cursor to border frame, when highlight box appears click left mouse button
- Click right button to finish
- Draw 2 more offsets at 4mm apart
Change WIDTH of Border and Title Frames
- Select [Modify, Object, Polyline]
- Click on border frame
- Enter W for width and press enter
- Enter 0.25 for 0.25mm width
- Click right button TWICE
- Click on frame of title block and set it to 0.7mm
Add Text
- Select [Format, Text Style]
- Scroll arrow in 'FontName' box to find 'ARIAL' or some other suitable font
- Set height to 1.5mm
- Click 'Apply' then 'Close'
- Select [Draw, Text, Single line text]
- Click to position the start of the text
- Enter the angle of rotation or press enter
- Type the text you want
- To place more text, just click where you want to put it and start typing
- Enter 1:1 in the scale box. Set the text height to 3mm.
View and save the drawing
- Select [View, Zoom, Extents]
- Select [File, Save As] and give it a name like

To Save at different scales
- Select [View, Zoom, All]
- Select [Modify, Scale]
- Drag a box over the border to select it and right click
- Click the cursor anywhere to fix the base point
- Enter 2 to scale it twice the size and press return
- Select [View, Zoom, All]
- Select [View, Zoom, Window] to enlarge the title details
- Select [Modify, Properties] and click on the scale value. Right click to finish
- Change text to new scale of 1:2
- Select [View, Zoom, All]
- Select [File, Save As] border A4 Landscape 1-2
- Load border 1:1
- Rescale for each size you want eg 1:5, 1:20, 1:100
