HNC CAD: 2D CAD Concepts -

Introduction

The display used in CAD systems tends to require a larger display than that of most computer applications. It is quite normal to have a 21 inch monitor when working with Complicated/Detailed drawings or computer models. The benefit of this is that of purely viewability. It allows the CAD Draughter to have more detail on the screen at once. Saving the need to scroll around to view areas of a drawing that are off screen.

Dual screen systems that allow menus and options to be placed on one screen and the drawing on the other have been used for many years to try and overcome cluttering the working area too much. Another option allows the use to have complete ranges of options placed on a large card that is in turn, placed on a digitising tablet. The use can then have main menus and a host of specialist options off screen, allowing unhindered working area.
